This got a second season?! I am still waiting on the second season announcement for Imouto Sae Ireba Ii!

honeys anime character

This looks to be completely different from the first season of Hitori no Shita. Sure, Soran, Houhou, San Jo, and Natsuki are back, but it looks like they have gotten a bunch of good seiyuu for the next season including Shinnosuke Tachibana and more. I just want to know if the zombies will be back.

honeys anime character

Oh! It has changed studios too. Haoliners took it inhouse with Emon to produce it. That has got to be a good sign for this anime then. After Fox Spirit Matchmaker, I really hope that this new season of Hitori no Shita is well-liked.

honeys anime character

The first episode is going to be a recap episode of the first season which is great news! Now, you don"t need to watch the first season to know what is going on! This is a tournament arc, so maybe we are going to be looking at something like the Dark Tournament from Yu Yu Hakusho? I can"t wait if this season is all about fighting! I love a good fight!

Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL Launch Trailer Switch ESRB

As the New Year draws near, many of us are looking for some new titles to help keep us occupied until that final countdown. The 2017 holiday season is jam packed full of titles from those in the AAA scene with the likes of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Super Mario Odyssey and of course, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. What gives the library a little more girth, however, lies in the Nindies category where a lot of fresh new titles have been developed, and one of those titles is Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL. This indie title is a twin-stick shooter and places players into a military landscape where they’ll need to fend off enemy soldiers, infiltrate bases to rescue prisoners and fight off zombies. Wait, what? Yes that’s right, fend off zombies who try to prevent you from clearing missions. Any fans of twin-stick shooters will perhaps find the gameplay to be fun and entertaining, but does it live up to its potential? Read on for more.

Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL isn’t the greatest looking game but as the saying goes, looks aren’t everything. While some of the character models may look a bit unnatural, it’s perhaps where its humor stems from. The game really isn’t meant to portray a simulated military atmosphere but rather take players into a world that shares some similarities, but overall provides a comical experience. There’s a lot to experience within the game as it provides you with 60 missions to complete while also adding in 8 extra zombie campaigns, 4 fast paced undead wave maps along with a zombie survival mode. There’s a plethora of things to do so the action never truly goes stale, so long as you’re up for the challenge which the game surely administers. Once you’ve completed all the difficulties, we recommend going the extra mile and testing your skills with the ultra-hardcore difficulty, which is sure to keep you up real late during those cold winter nights. Once you acquire enough cash and medals, you’ll be able to purchase upgrades for your soldiers, as well as purchasing mercenaries to help subdue enemies that stand in your way. With all that being said, let’s jump straight into the gameplay section and dive a little deeper as to what Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL is all about.

As we mentioned earlier, Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL is a twin-stick shooter meaning that you’ll be using both analog sticks to control and shoot at targets around you. While it may sound a little jarring for those not used to such mechanics, we assure you that the Switch makes things very easy if you play in Handheld mode, or use the Joy-Con grip. Whichever way you decide to play the game is entirely up to you, but in the end, getting used to the controls will not take too long. The game provides you with a tutorial before jumping into the action and so, before being thrown into the shark’s pit, you’ll have an idea of just how to maneuver yourself around and not get killed. Weapons that you acquire are tied mostly to your shoulder buttons like L, R, ZR, etc, and so when moving around on the map, it’s important to keep in mind what buttons to press. Sometimes we ran into issues where we launched a rocket launcher attack by accident and forgot to cancel our actions, so our team ended up dying prematurely, so just bare that in mind when playing.

As you wander around the map, which is all in top-down perspective, part of your objective also is to collect medals and dog tags as they help to provide more cash and rewards down the road. Most notably, the medals are really pivotal since they can be used to revive your soldiers if they happen to perish in battle. So let’s say you have a high ranking soldier that you really want to keep alive because of all the buffs they have, then ensuring you have a plentiful amount of medals in hand is important. It costs 3 medals to revive one soldier so keep that in mind as you explore more of the game. The dog-tags we mentioned earlier just help to boost your points which eventually become cash that you’ll be able to delegate among certain things like weapon upgrades, soldier walking speeds and accuracy, costume customization among others. Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL isn’t a game that places heavy emphasis on a story despite there being one. Well, it’s not so much a story as it is a mission outline and your lieutenant is basically telling you to stop these enemies from wreaking havoc on the towns and villages. The main point here is that Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL is all action and raw sauce, it’s an all out battle and requires you to be on point at all times.

The early missions are quite simple, to be quite frank, as they’re more of a way to get you familiar with what’s to come. Once you get past the 30th stage is when things start to get a little more engaging, but also, you get to choose the difficulty prior to doing the mission. So technically, you could finish all missions on the easy rank (1 or 2 bullet rank) and be on your way, but then you kind of rob yourself of the experience the game is truly trying to present. Play on the 3 or 4 bullet ranks to really get a taste of the action and test your skills to see just how many enemies you can take on at once before you die in the line of the fire. Watch out for civilians as they reduce your cash flow each time you kill them, and they also affect your kill multiplier.

In the end, Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL comes with a lot under the hood and so the replay value is certainly there for those who find the game to be enticing. However one thing we should point out is how the AI behaves in the game not just from our own teammates but also the enemies you encounter along the way. The enemies are quite slow in the sense that, they actively respond as often as you and so, you have to engage them before they attack. This doesn’t happen every time but it’s certainly noticeable. We would’ve loved to have some sort of button that allowed us to give orders to our teammates so that we could construct a tactical approach to eliminate a group of enemies, or to take down enemy buildings. It felt limited at times due to the lack of that option but it didn’t really make the game feel boring. It’s just something that would’ve added another element of excitement. There’s also no online multiplayer mode so basically your teammates are all AI based and while you’re in control of them, they don’t always go in the direction you want them to. Sometimes you’ll run up a hill and one of your teammates gets stuck on a wall and they can’t seem to avoid it at all. So you’d have to run back down the hill to make sure they stay alongside you. Other than that Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL is a fun title that will keep you busy for a while, should you make the effort to continue. Not everyone will fancy the game and so it really comes down to personal preference more than anything. Be that as it may, for $12.99 you’re not taking too much out of your wallet and you’re essentially getting two games in one.

The holiday season is full of titles to play and so why not give Tiny Troopers Joint Ops XL a try? Who knows, it may just tickle your fancy and provide a unique experience. The Nindies library is growing and this title is another great addition to that catalog. You don’t need to be a military junkie to really enjoy the game, it’s just a fun experience to shoot zombies and customize your characters in comical costumes. Romancing SaGa 2 - Nintendo Switch [Game Review]

Romancing SaGa 2 - Announcement Trailer (Nintendo Switch)

The 90’s was a monumental time for the video game world, as it ushered in a new era of how gamers experienced virtual worlds and paved the way for what is now one of the largest industries in the world. We have many thanks to give to the folks at Atari along with Colecovision for helping to open new doors, but it was two of Japan’s biggest companies, Nintendo and Sega, who truly shifted the direction of the gaming industry. RPGs were a massive deal during those days, especially for the Super Famicom (or Super Nintendo for those in the West) and one that truly made waves in Japan was Romancing SaGa 2. Unfortunately, when the game released, it was a Japan only title meaning that those in the West never had a chance to experience such a genuine title. Of course, during that time we didn’t have internet and finding a localization team to bring it overseas was near impossible.

Fortunately those days have passed and the folks at Square Enix, arguably the most revered publisher during the SNES hype, have managed to bring the beloved title to Nintendo’s brand new console, the Switch. It seems like those memorable days of Nintendo and Square Enix working alongside each other are coming back into fruition!

Romancing SaGa 2 released back in 1993 and to rave reviews in Japan, but sadly most foreigners weren’t able to partake in that experience until now. In the Nintendo Switch version, the game has maintained its pixel perfect appeal but with added HD touches to give it beautiful polish that looks like you’re playing straight from the SNES itself. The overall aesthetic still remains along with the branching storyline that players can create, but Square have added in new options such as new classes, new dungeons to explore along with New Game+, which provides a unique experience on its own. Anyone who loves the classic turn based tactical appeal in RPGs will certainly have a field day with this one, as it draws you in with its nostalgic visuals and encourages you to write your own story pertaining to the royal empire. Romancing SaGa 2 is unlike any other RPG you’ve played and since Square Enix is behind the steering wheel you can be rest assured that your experience will be a smooth ride.

Romancing SaGa 2 starts off with you being in control of the king, along with his two sons Victor and Gerard. As you progress through the opening phases, you come to a tragic halt and now, you must decide what to do next. This is the exciting aspect of Romancing SaGa 2; you’re pretty much in control of how the story pans out. How you interact with characters in the game can potentially shift things into an entirely new direction and when your party dies, you must choose a new heir to rightfully take their place. It’s cool because even if your team perishes in battle, all of their items will remain with you in the treasury and so when you recruit new members for your team they’ll be able to use all the rare items you’ve acquired at any time. In a way, Romancing SaGa 2 is one of earliest games that provide somewhat of a rogue-lite experience since every time you perish in battle, you’re essentially “starting over” with a new pact but can carry items over.

This is the truly exciting aspect about the game because it provides a ton of replay value without taking anything away from the overall experience. Battles you encounter gradually get more difficult as you level up and so your approach will always need to change according to who you encounter. Another plus is that, while other RPGs place emphasis on grinding and reaching a certain level in order to engage with enemies, Romancing SaGa 2’s gameplay actually deviates away from that and places more attention towards focusing heavily on survival, while picking and choosing enemies carefully. Also, make sure to keep an eye out on your LP since you’ll be using it often to revive characters should they have LP to begin with!

It’s really all about making the right choices while playing, since much of those choices also apply to character interaction and not just battling. In many parts of the story, you’ll have quests that must be completed and often times, you’ll come across a character who could potentially be a party member, should you choose to do so. If you choose to let that character go, for example, you’ll never encounter them again, or if an NPC helps you once, that’s it. Of course, there are plenty of other ways to complete tasks to further progress through the story and that’s the sheer beauty about the game. There are so many branching paths that you can take to create the kingdom of your liking and so every experience will be different for every player. Games like Until Dawn share a resemblance to this and perhaps it’s Romancing SaGa 2 where much of its inspiration derived from.

There’s just a plethora of options to discover while playing and because you’re always encouraged to create new strategies as you play, the fun factor always remains high. Luckily, if you don’t like the way a path turned out you could always revert back to a save point in your game and restart from where you left off. That’s another plus of Romancing SaGa 2 and it’s that you can save your progress at anytime, and never feel at a loss if you ever encounter some major defeat since you can just go back to where you last started. So maybe there was a very hard boss in a dungeon that you just couldn’t beat and the dungeon minions weren’t too forgiving either. Just reopen that save and try to develop a new attack method to better your odds and pick up on enemy patterns to ensure victory. While the attacks are RNG based for the bosses, you can still pick up on just when certain moves are used so that you’re able to defend and overtake them before it’s too late. We could go on and on forever about the gameplay mechanics but it really deserves your attention because it’s such an immersive experience. All we can say is that the minute you dive into the world of Romancing SaGa 2 it’ll be very hard to get back out because of how impactful it is, and how well it delivers an awesome experience for RPG fans.

Romancing SaGa 2 is a game that every switch owner should buy, not because of its rarity or Square Enix’s seal of approval, but because this game is an absolute joy to play. With all of the new additions thrown into the game, it takes the original one step further, providing even players who played the original the ability to experience something entirely new. In an age where retro titles are now making their triumphant return into the spotlight, it’s safe to say that this isn’t the last classic RPG square title we will see on the Switch. Romancing SaGa 2 is just a title that, much like the SNES days, is helping to pave the way for more genuine titles to make their way to this beloved hybrid console. Don’t sleep on this! There’s just an incredible amount of depth that lures you in with each encounter, each person you speak to and the action truly never stops. Romancing SaGa 2 is truly a one of a kind gem that you must play.

Romancing SaGa 2, despite its age, still provides a very charming and upbeat experience that you simply cannot find anywhere else. Like wine it has matured into this beautifully crafted masterpiece that just tastes so much better with every new sip you take. There’s a lot to absorb while playing and that’s where most of the immersiveness comes from. You’re never bored or find yourself at a dead end because there are always new ways for you to reach your goals. If you’re hungry for that classic RPG experience then look no further than this Square Enix classic.

As always, for all things sweet, with news straight from Japan, be sure to keep it locked here on Honey’s Anime.

I Fell from Grace - Announcement Trailer

We’ve all at some point in our lives experienced something pivotal, whether that be earning some sort of reward for hard earned work or a tragic event that left you grief-stricken. It’s definitely an inevitable thing for all of us in this world we live in, because in some way or another, those experiences are helping us to become better versions of ourselves. One thing the indie scene offers more than your AAA giant is that smaller developers tend to step outside of their comfort zone, and provide players with unique experiences as they play. With I Fell from Grace, you’re thrown into a game that often feels all too real, the pain and struggles that the main character Henry must endure in order to move forward. All of these things are relatable in some way or another and that’s what truly makes I Fell from Grace a truly genuine title.

Oftentimes, we’re thrown into a fantasy-esque world where much of the reality we face on a daily basis is thrown to the wayside, and for those few hours we invest in the game, our minds are at ease. I Fell from Grace keeps you engaged and reminds you of the harsh reality yet it provides a very stimulating experience through its clever puzzles and poetic narrative.

While the game does portray real life issues, it still remains a game at the end of the day. The pixel retro visuals add a nice appeal to the game and acts as a reminder that once again, it’s just an experience. Had the game taken a more realistic approach in terms of visuals perhaps, our hearts would’ve cracked in the early portions of the game, but luckily, it didn’t. There’s a lot of backtracking that will need to be done in order to put all the pieces together, as well as paying close attention to the hints people provide you as you speak to them. Missing out on clues may put you back a little bit but the game isn’t meant to drag you along, but rather guide you towards something interesting. With its branching storytelling along with its go-at-your-own-pace gameplay, I Fell from Grace is a wonderful title for those who fancy a nice adventure.

So Henry and his wife move into a beautiful new home together, jubilant over how far the two of them have come as a couple. With a child on the way, they’re ecstatic about their future but all of that is cut short when Henry’s wife unexpectedly becomes ill, loses their child, and puts their finances in shambles. Now,1 Henry must find a way out of it all. You suddenly come across a mysterious lady who hands you an envelope and it is now up to you to decode the message within, but of course it comes with severe consequences.

We don’t want to spoil much of the game for you since experiencing it for yourself is all the better. We’ll just say that you’ll need to uncover the mystery before it’s too late. So much of the game is you wandering around collecting as many clues as possible in order to solve this mystery that’s been presented to you. Every obstacle you encounter reveals a puzzle that you’ll need to decipher and while they’re not necessarily difficult, they do require some thought in order to move forward. Everything is slowly revealed to you but then as the story begins to evolve, so too do the characters around you. Things start to branch off into different scenarios which is where the game starts to get a little more intriguing. One thing about games with a strong narrative is that at times they often trail off into an area that starts to grow boring, and it then drives you away from playing. I Fell from Grace, however, reels you back in as each branching plot leads you down a fresh new path and with each path, a new answer is revealed that surprises you.

It’s not mind blowing by any means, but as you play, it starts to feel more like a visual novel, and as you continue to play, you’re turning new pages in the story. Each chapter that you discover deals with a totally different scenario and so how you respond to it all is up to you. Not a lot of storytelling adventure games can pull it off well, but I Fell from Grace keeps you hungry for more, without steering you too far in one direction. The controls are extremely easy to use and so you’re not bogged down with complicated tools or actions to pull off, it’s just you find a specific item and now it becomes a test of how to properly use that item. It’s challenging enough that you feel a need to dig deeper and discover more about Henry’s past and eventful future, but not too easy that you fall asleep halfway through. It strikes a nice balance while providing a cool story that reminds us that oftentimes nothing ever truly comes for free in life. We all deal with psychological pains but ultimately, we need to crack those puzzles in reality to see what lies ahead in this world of mystery. That’s what I Fell from Grace teaches you.

While the game isn’t incredibly long when compared to other storytelling adventures, I Fell from Grace holds its own very well in a space where competition is extremely high. The indie scene is always pumping out title after title, especially in 2017, and to see Deep Taiga pull off a feat like this is a pleasure to see. It’s a game that isn’t meant to truly hit you right away. In fact, we surmise that the main goal behind creating this title is to teach you just how important life is, and that we shouldn’t take things for granted. We all may lose a lot of things in life but we also happen to gain a lot from those losses, and so it’s important to understand the universal balance between the two to truly find peace in life. I Fell from Grace leaves that lasting impression on you well after playing, well at least for us it did. Everyone’s experience will surely be different but we assure you that it’s a worthwhile experience that shouldn’t be ignored.

In the end, we had a charming experience with I Fell from Grace and so, after reading this review we hope that you do too. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest gaming news, and of course don’t forget to follow us on Twitch when we go live! What is Manservice? [Definition, Meaning]

Sloan The Female Otaku

A reverse harem is a genre about a female being surrounded by multiple male pursuers. Even today, this genre still isn’t very popular. However, it shows that there are female anime fans who are looking for some sort sexy man candy. Before, the only genres geared towards female otaku were romance and yaoi. Unfortunately, neither of these genres contained manservice.

A reverse harem would be the closest a female otaku could get to seeing multiple guys take their shirts off. Classic reverse harems such as Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club, would have a few scenes that were more on the sexy side. Episodes involving hot springs, pools, and the beach were all a girl could get for some gorgeous topless action. Remember, this was the 2000s, so the art style was less detailed than it is today. So even if you were lucky enough to see a reverse harem beach episode, the boys’ abs wouldn’t be drawn in, and they all had thin arms. But, of course, the pecs would be drawn, so that was good enough manservice for the time being.

Don’t forget, manservice is a term to describe sexual situations involving men. However, if you’ve ever watched a yaoi anime, you’ll notice that’s all the genre is; sexy situations involving men. (More specifically, gay men.) But just like with the ecchi genre, that does not count as manservice, for you are going into the series expecting a plethora of those scenes to occur. It only counts as manservice if it happens in a non-yaoi/shounen ai genre. Plus, not all female otaku are fujoshi, so how else were they supposed to get their manservice? In 2008 and in 2009, two anime series came out that had a ton of yaoi vibes, and fangirls of either side couldn’t contain themselves.

Hetalia Axis Powers

  • Episodes: 52

  • Aired: Jan 2009 to Mar 2010

Italy is a country that sucks at fighting, and is obsessed with pasta and women. Germany is a stone-cold country and has a hard time making friends. Japan is a quiet and emotionless country who would rather pet cats all day. Combine each country’s stereotypes with handsome men, and you have the Hetalia version of World War II.

Hetalia Axis Powers Trailer

Hetalia and Black Butler are absolute staples in the female otaku fanbase. These were two anime that had good looking men, who would also get into a few sticky situations with one another. But because these were not yaoi anime, we only got a tease as to what could be. This ended up spiraling into a Hetalia shipping war, and a “Is this legal?” Black Butler argument. But that’s a discussion for another day. Hetalia took the extra step to dedicate episodes to the beautiful men cosplaying as a sexy nurse, or a playboy bunny. In the end, both the fujoshi and average female otaku were pleased.

Black Butler

  • Episodes: 24

  • Aired: Oct 2008 to Mar 2009

How far will you go to get your revenge? Ciel Phantomhive, witnessed the fall of the Phantomhive Manor, and the death of his parents. Only 13 years old, Ciel decided to take over the business and make a contract with a demon. If the demon fulfills Ciel’s request to complete his revenge, the demon will eat Ciel’s soul.

Black Butler Trailer

Sports anime has been around for a very long time, with classics such as Slam Dunk and Prince of Tennis. Nine times out of ten, the sports anime was shounen. Now, yes, Black Butler is also a shounen; however, there is not a trace of a typical shounen troupe. Sports on the other hand, whether in anime or TV, are always geared towards guys. So why is it that otaku girls are suddenly getting into the genre? In 2012, an anime called Kuroko no Basket aired that not only captivated the shounen fanboys, but the ladies as well.

Kuroko no Basket (Kuroko’s Basketball)

  • Episodes: 25

  • Aired: Apr 2012 to Sept 2012

The Generation of Miracles were superstars in middle school. Each member had their own unique talent for playing basketball, and together, they never lost. When high school came around, the team split up and went to different schools. Kuroko, one of the secret members of the Generation of Miracles, runs into Kagami while signing up for Seirin High School’s basketball team. Kuroko notices that Kagami’s skills are on par with the Generation of Miracles. The two pair up to become the best team in Japan.

Kuroko no Basket Trailer

Kuroko no Basket is as shounen as it gets. You have male high school protagonists wanting to be the best, rivalries, and over the top battles - I’m sorry, “matches”- that take place over the course of four to eight episodes. It’s not nicknamed “The Dragon Ball Z of Sports Anime” for nothing. But once a fangirl got a peek at the beautiful young men, she could not resist. Because this is 2012, the animation was in higher quality, and in HD. The art style of anime became more detailed, drawing out every bit of the human anatomy. So unlike the manservice in Ouran, the muscles shined...literally.

Or course when playing a sport, the boys would sweat buckets. Instead of it looking like a sloppy mess, all the men glistened. Seeing the sweat droplets slowly make their way down each character’s biceps made just about every fangirl"s ovaries explode. Kuroko no Basket opened a whole new world to the female otaku. Even though the ladies still don’t have an official male counterpart to the ecchi genre, sports anime is close enough. Now, if a woman wants to see some tight male booty, she can go watch Yuri on Ice or Ace of Diamond. For a little less clothing, Free and Dive is the way to go. And if she wants a combo of manservice and yaoi vibes, than Haikyuu, Kuroko no Basket, and Yowamushi Pedal cannot be beat.

We’ve talked about how manservice took over the sports genre, but what about others? As stated previously, you can find fanservice in every single genre. Like in a mecha anime, you’ll have a female pilot who has to bend down doggystyle in order to pilot the mech. Does the same happen in other genres for manservice? In a way, yes, but nowhere near to the extent of fanservice. In fact, we’re pretty sure the following example was unintentional manservice by the original creator. But it’s a mistake we’re happy to accept.

Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma)

  • Episodes: 24

  • Aired: Apr 2015 to Sept 2015

Totsuki Academy is an esteemed culinary arts school with a low graduation rate of less than 10%. When Soma’s family diner shuts down, his father enrolls him into said academy. What faces Soma is a school filled with snobby rich kids trying to tear him down. What Soma lacks in social rank, he makes up for with his orgasmic food.

Food Wars Trailer

Isshiki is a recurring character in Food Wars. Although one of the top 10 students in Totsuki, Isshiki is a funny and lovable guy who has no shame. For some strange reason, Isshiki is often seen roaming around with nothing but an apron. And whenever he appears on screen, we see a close up shot of Isshiki’s bare butt, sparkling abs, and then his face. A bonus is that Isshiki likes to shake it.

We decided to talk about this particular manservice scene rather the more famous half-naked man in anime, Grey Fullbuster from Fairy Tail, because Food Wars is a full blown ecchi series. Yes, you heard us correctly. Female otaku can get their manservice fix by watching an ecchi anime. Now, obviously, this is a rare case, but if we can get manservice in an ecchi anime, then we must be getting closer to a manservice genre.
