Natsume Yuujinchou is great and amazing thanks to its creator, Yuki Midorikawa. The show is so popular that it already has six seasons under its belt with an upcoming movie that will premiere sometime in 2018. Natsume Yuujinchou draws a lot of people’s attention because of its brilliant messages and lessons about life in general. It’s indeed episodic, but the charm of this anime is its captivating setting, well-rounded characters and their intriguing interactions with one another.

Ever since he can remember, Natsume Takahashi has been chased by countless yōkai of different shapes and sizes. Because of his special ability to see the supernatural, he doesn’t have a moment of peace and has been isolated from his family and friends. Everything changes, though, when Natsume accidentally frees the fearsome spirit Madara. Upon meeting the powerful spirit, Natsume learns that he owns the yuujinchou (book of friends), a powerful book which contains the names of different yōkai that his grandmother, Reiko Takahashi, managed to collect. To stop the yōkai who are constantly chasing him around, Natsume decides to return the names to their rightful owners.
Although he doesn’t like the idea of Natsume returning the names, Madara volunteers to be Natsume’s personal bodyguard. He will stick to Natsume’s side and will wait for the boy to die in order to obtain the yuujinchou.
